More merriment

Among this week's highlights was the annual Christmas party for the local Church employees. Here are a few photos:

The program began with some lovely Christmas music.
Elder Clarke shared an inspirational message.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch, followed by karaoke. (No, I didn't win!) We were privileged to have Elder and Sister Falabella at our table.
A mariachi band helps celebrate Elder Clarke's birthday, which would be a couple of days later when he would be out of town.

Holiday happenings

This may be a post that will grow over the next 2-3 weeks unless we think of another title, but we'll post a few recent photos now, including some of our trip back from the mission presidents' seminar, a couple of our Thanksgiving dinner with the other senior couples, a couple from a Christmas dinner with the local stake presidents and wives, and a miscellaneous shot or two.

Where a section of water-logged mountain slid down onto the road.

Mountain road washed out by heavy rains a couple of months ago.

Foot bridge where people could cross even though vehicles couldn't for a while. Buses could drop passengers at one end and other buses could pick them up at the other.

Another shot of the foot bridge, and efforts to fill in the washed out area.

Thanksgiving dinner for senior couples at the Clarkes' and Martino's apartment's covered patio area.

Another shot of the same. Virginia is in the red dress in the middle.

Donald and Goliath. (Isn't that the name of the Bible story?) I'm the short, pudgy one. "Goliath" is a visual aid Elder Clarke had made for a big youth conference presentation he had to give.

At annual Christmas dinner for Guatemala City stake presidents with the Area Presidency. This was the first major event we attended when we came down a year ago for training, so we've now been at this for a year. Less than one more year to go. Mixed feelings.

A look at the decorations and entertainment at the Christmas dinner for the stake presidents.
